Gryphons Piotrowski and Thorn selected in 2013 CFL Draft today

Guelph Gryphon football players Jake Piotrowski and Cameron Thorn were selected today (MAY 6) in the 2013 Canadian Football League (CFL) Draft.

Jake Piotrowski of Shanty Bay, Ont. was selected 41st overall in the fifth round by the Montreal Alouettes. This past season, the 6-foot-5, 293lb sat out the year to recover from shoulder surgery. During the 2011 season he was named the teamā€™s lineman of the year after leading the offensive line, playing in seven of eight games for the Gryphons. In 2012, he played in the East West Bowl at Western University on the West Team.

Cameron Thorn of Midhurst, Ont. was selected 58th overall in the seventh round by the BC Lions. This past season the 6-foot-5, 290lb fourth-year played in eight regular season games for the Gryphons and was involved in 19 tackles (14 solo, 10 assisted). He also recorded a sack for 11 yards and one breakup. In 2012, Thorn played in the East West Bowl at Western University on the West Team.
