Guelph brings in three Ontario commits.
The Guelph Gryphons are set to welcome Sean Bennett, a defensive back from St. Michaels’ College, CFC100 Andy McFalls, an offensive tackle from Meadowvale Secondary School and Mitchell Thiele, a lineman from Cardinal Newman High School, into their family.

Guelph University, Sean Bennett is ready for you. “I really enjoyed my visit,” he said. “The coaches are great. They are extremely welcoming and make you feel like you are apart of a family.”
Bennett, who is looking into either economics or law, said that the school offers all the programs he is considering. The Torontoian spent his high school career playing with the St. Michael’s Kerry Blues. The five-year veteran is 6’0, 178lbs and has won two league championships in 2012 and 2014.
In the end, Bennett said, “I’m just excited to play at the next level and win games.”

Guelph drew Andy McFalls into its arms and the 6’4, 275lbs football player isn’t looking back. “Ever since I first stepped on campus, it felt like home. I really like the family atmosphere that surrounds the team, and the coaches are fantastic,” he said.
The product of Mississauga has had a well-established playing career. He spent four years with the Meadowvale Falcons (Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Associations) and the Mississauga Warriors (OVFL). He has represented Team Ontario twice, once at the 2015 Spalding Cup and once at the 2016 Football Canada Cup.
“I know quite a few of Laurier’s coaches and they’ve all helped me out a lot through Team Ontario or just through the recruiting process in general. They definitely have a “team first” attitude,” McFalls said.
McFalls, who is looking into Criminal Justice and Public Policy, will be heading to the International Bowl in Orlando, Florida with the U19 edition of Team Canada. He has won two bronze metals at the Spalding Cup and the Canada Cup. He was also Athlete of the Year at his high school in grade nine and 11.

Mitchell Thiele felt there was something special when he stepped onto Guelph’s campus. “I chose Guelph because the whole atmosphere felt like home. The school had some unique programs,” he said. He is interested in either water resource engineering or mechanical engineering with a specialization in renewable energy.
But, what really drew Thiele in were the coaches. “I had built a great relationship with the coaches with definitely influenced my decision a lot. The coaches are a main reason as to why I like the Guelph football program. They make me feel at home. I have talked to them since being in grade ten, which amounts to four years of contact,” he said.
“This has been a long process but I feel like I’ve made a great decision and I’m super excited for the next four to five years!”
In his nine-year career, the 6’3, 275lbs veteran has played for the Hamilton-Wentworth Panthers (Hamilton-Wentworth Minor Football Association), the Hamilton Hurricanes (OFC) and the Hamilton Varsity Tiger-Cats (OFC). In high school, Thiele played with the Cardinal Newman Cardinals (Hamilton Wentworth Catholic Athletic Association). He has suited up for Team Ontario in the International Bowl twice and in the Football Canada Cup twice.
