Golden Hawks coaching staff played factor with recent commits

Laurier brings in four commits to their Class of 2017.

Kaycee Anoliefo, a linebacker from St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School, will be looking to become part of the budding Sir Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks team in the upcoming U Sports season.

Avery Armstrong-MacInnis, a linebacker from Clarkson Secondary School, James Leach, an offensive lineman from John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute and Julian Mitchell, a receiver from Bridgeton Academy are also joining the Golden Hawks in 2017.

It was the coaching staff that brought Kaycee Anoliefo to Laurier. “The coaching staff is friendly, smart and amazing,” he said. “They were able to turn around a program from a losing tradition to a winning one.”

The 5’11, 200lbs Hamilton Varsity Tiger-Cat (OFC) added that he also chose the school for its academic achievement and smaller campus.

Entering his third year with the Tiger-Cats, he also spent a year with the Hamilton Ironmen in the OVFL. Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, his high school team was the St. Mary’s Crusaders (Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic Athletic Association).

Avery Armstrong-MacInnis

Avery Armstrong-MacInnis spent a year playing with Football North, a football prep program that plays American high schools, which is based out of Clarkson Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario. Standing at 6’3, 215lbs, he is from the Toronto area. In 2015, he played with the Toronto Jr. Argonauts (OFC).

James Leach
A product of Guelph, Ontario, James Leach played with the John F. Ross Royals (Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association) in high school. From 2014 to 2015, he suited up for the Guelph Varsity Gryphons (OFC). He stands at 6’4, 285lbs.

Julian Mitchell
Julian Mitchell will be heading over the border from North Bridgton, Maine, where he spent time playing with the Bridgton Academy Wolverines. He is 6’3, 195lbs.
