Calgary defensive standout becomes fifth CFC TOP 100 player to join OUA team’s 2014 class.

Another CFC TOP 100 standout has committed to an OUA school.

The Carleton Ravens are once again the beneficiaries this time as Carlo Gallotta has signed with the team. The 6’2, 225 pound defensive end/linebacker from Calgary, Alberta has a couple of reasons why he chose the Ravens.

“I chose Carleton is because the university has the programs I am interested in,” said Gallotta.  “After meeting the coaches and players it is definitely a program that I wanted to be a part of.”

“Also getting an opportunity to play with my older brother (Emilio – Calgary Dinos transfer) will be a great experience.”

Gallotta recently completed a successful high school campaign with Division 1 team, Notre Dame Pride of the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA).  This past season, he led the Pride to both the Division 1 City and Tier 1 Provincial Championships.  Gallotta has been recognized for his exceptional play on the field as he has been the recipient of the Pride Defensive Player of the Year Award and the Harry Hood Award which is given to the top Division 1 male student-athlete of the year.

Additionally, the Calgary defensive standout has suited up for the Calgary Cowboys of the Calgary Amateur Minor Football Association (CAMFA).  He was named the Midget Cowboys Team MVP.

“Carlo is a high intensity player who can play defensive end or linebacker and we project him as an inside backer in our scheme,” commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah.  “He has played on one of the top programs in the country (Notre Dame in Calgary) and understands teamwork and winning.”

“He is a great addition to the Ravens program.”
