Gaiters coaches have ‘positive attitude’

The Gaiters add two out-of-province commits and one provincial commit to their team.

Tight end Justin Kular from the North Surrey Bears already feels at home with the Bishop’s Gaiters.

Oliver Brunett, a receiver from Fredericton High School, and Axel-Étienne Yanibada, a defensive tackle from Collège André-Grasset, will also be joining the Gaiters.

Justin Kular

It will be a long flight to Bishop’s University for Justin Kular of Surrey, BC, but he doesn’t mind. “I chose to commit because the school has some great programs and the coaching staff and players were very respectful and made me feel like I was home,” Kular said, who is interested in criminology.

“Coaching staff was amazing. All the coaches really cared about their players and they all had a positive attitude,” he added.

Kular has played for both the North Langley Kodiaks and the North Surrey Bears. The 6’4, 225lbs athlete won a championship title in 2018 and was also the ‘most outstanding offensive player’ that season. He won an MVP award in 2015 and a coaches’ choice award in 2014.

Oliver Burnett

Oliver Brunett is a member of the Fredericton High School Black Kats (NBHSFL) where he played as both a wide receiver and free safety. Standing at 5’11, 185lbs, the product of Fredericton, New Brunswick, has also played as a strong safety and middle linebacker.

Axel-Étienne Yanibada

Axel-Étienne Yanibada is from Laval, Québec, where he played high school ball with Les Loups de Curé-Antoine-Labelle (RSEQ). The 6’1, 290lbs nose guard and tackle then joined Les Phénix du Collège André-Grasset (RSEQ Division 1).

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
