Those interested in participating in the peewee (13 and under) and bantam (15 and under) spring tackle courses should visit www.fundyminorfootball.com and print off a registration form, which should be filled out and brought to the first practice along with a cash payment of $75. The six-week program will consist of three practices per week and focuses on skill development, with a couple of games scheduled near the end of the sessions.

Equipment will be issued by Fundy Minor Football upon receipt of registration and payment but players will not dress in full gear for the first few practices. They are encouraged to wear sweatpants or shorts, cleats and a warm top or shirt.

The majority of sessions will take place at the NBCC-Saint John field on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays or at the Arthur Miller Upper Field in Rothesay.

For further information about the spring tackle program contact Bruce Watts at 674-2747 or email [email protected].

Meanwhile, Fundy Minor Football is operating a co-ed under-15 flag football league this season. The non-contact sport promotes skill development, cardio training and game strategy.

Teams will be made up of six players and those interested may register as a team or individually. To join, print off and complete a registration form and bring it to the NBCC-Saint John field April 18 at 12 noon along with a cash payment of $60.

Fundy Minor Football will provide a mouth guard, jersey and flags while players are required to supply their own shorts and cleats or sneakers.
Teams that meet Football Canada’s guidelines for co-ed flag teams (a minimum of two and maximum of four females on the six-person team) will be eligible for a provincial playoff and a chance to represent New Brunswick at the U-15 Nationals in Ottawa Aug. 12-14.

Teams that do not meet the gender guidelines will compete in local championships and possibly a provincial tournament.

Fundy Minor Football is also looking for volunteer coaches and officials to assist with the new league. Those interested may contact Arliss Wilson at 672-2421 or email [email protected].

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
