Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): QB Atherton loves teamwork

It can be hard for young athletes to figure out their game, but not for quarterback Grayson Atherton who has been playing for five years already.

At 5’9 and 156-pounds, Atherton already has some accolades to his name; 2013 Rookie of the year – CR Eagles, 2015 Coaches Choice Award – CR Eagles, 2016 Offensive MVP – Comox Valley Raiders, and 2016 Outstanding Offensive Back – CR Eagles.

Playing for the Comox Valley Raiders, Atherton registered 9.5 tackles, 418 passing yards to go along with 3 touchdowns, 114 rushing yards, and 104 punting yards.

His experience has been with his community team and high school thus far. “I have played Community Football since PeeWee and last fall played both Community and High School. I have been to lots of camps.” This last year he has attended QB camps with Jay Prepchuk and JC Boice and last Summer he was on the JB Island Zone Bowl team.

You will find Atherton playing flag football in the spring as well as participating in winter training with his community team.

And while Grayson says he doesn’t have a football idol because “There are too many amazing players and coaches out there to choose just one,” he loves football for it’s teamwork and “how everyone is there for each other.”
