Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Lineman Rahbaran is a true teammate

In just 3 short years, West Vancouver’s Ali Rahbaran has already experienced football in the most significant way. “Football has truly been one of the best things to happen in my life so far, It has impacted a lot of things I do in life significantly such as the way I respect people in a good way,” he says. “It helps me get all the negativity off my mind and focus on something I love.”

The offensive guard and defensive tackle won the 2016 Lineman of the Year and hopes to build upon his football ability and skill. At the CFCFPC, he wants to be the best offensive lineman on the field. He also has his sights set on the CFC100 top prospects list.

I want to be at least CFC top 100 to help me pursue my career in playing next level NCAA football and hopefully be on of the top OL in the nation.”

These are attainable goals for the 5’11, 250-pounds lineman. But what motivates some athletes to reach for these goals? Sometimes it’s passion, sometimes it’s expectations, and sometimes it’s who you look up to that lights the fire. Rahbaran says that Kam Chancellor of the NFL Seattle Seahawks is this person.

“My football role model is Kam Chancellor. He grew up with nothing but made something out of it. I like this because my family’s financial situation is not very good and seeing how he is so big in the NFL right now, it motivates me to work harder every day.”

Working hard is just what Ali is planning to do. In the off-season he is going to work on getting stronger and faster then the day before. “I work out with my team and not only think of myself, but I motivate my teammates to get better everyday as a whole so we are one step closer to winning a provincial championship,” he explains.

In the end, it’s why you love football that counts.

I love to play football because it is a unique sport. Every single player on the field can make such a big difference, from a big clutch block to a sprawling diving catch or a bullet pass rolling out of the pocket, etc. Also because football enables me to do something I want and enjoy to do everyday,” he says. “I love showing my friends and family something I’m good at, I want people to look up to me to stay out of trouble and play the best sport in the world. I also want to do something that can make me prove all the doubters wrong.”
