Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Football has taught FS/REC Stebbings a lot about himself

Free safety and receiver, Jacob Stebbings, has been playing football for nine years now. Long enough for football to have made an incredible impact in his life.

Football personally has changed my life. Not only in the emotional and physical aspects of things but bonding and making unique relationships with coaches and teammates.” He goes on to say,”Football as a sport is a life changing event that ultimately challenges a players metal toughness and physical condition. I am a better person because of football, it has changed the way I view life and how I mentally handle situations.”

Stebbings stands at 5’10, 165-pounds and is working as hard as he can to achieve some goals going into his graduating year. He wants to use the CFCFPC to get as much exposure as he can in order to showcase his skills and abilities. He is looking forward to competing against other strong athletes in order to better himself.

Also to learn and grow my knowledge of the game by all the coaches who put their time into making me a better football player,” he adds.Ā

Currently playing for the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers, Jacob has earned Most Sportsmanship Awards in 2014, 2012, 2011, and 2009. He was also the 2013 Offensive Player of the Year with the North Langley Bears.

In the off-season, Jacob participates in his strength and conditioning program at school as well as attends other all-star games to better his football and athletic ability. This will all come in handy as he wants his name on the CFC100 top prospects list for 2018.

” […]Ā being apart of the CFC100 is definitely one of my goals because its great exposure to allow my name to be shown publicly to universities and colleges. Its also a great learning experience to be able to get coached by multiple people who are willing to share their knowledge of the game,” he says. “I will definitely become a better football player after this experience because of other players and coaches pushing me to my reach my full potential.”

And while Stebbings says that QB Tom Brady of the New England Patriots is someone that he looks up to because of his competitive edge and drive for success, he can see how football has allowed him to learn things about himself that he didn’t know existed.

To be able to make friendships that will last a life time but to also go out there, and hit some people. Playing a physical game is something I enjoy more than anything. The high intensity, the pressure and the adrenaline and the physical beating are all parts of football that I love,” he adds.Ā

Jacob says that Brady’s work ethic and leadership ability is something that he also strives for and finishes by saying, “He was an underdog that shocked everyone and I want to be that same x-factor on the field.”
