Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): OL/DL Bolanos’ has heart on and off the field

Anthony Bolanos has been a part of the Vancouver youth football scene for 6 years now. The 5ā€™10 210lbs offensive and defensive lineman has already won many awards and was named to Team BC at the Kamloops Legacy Games. Some of the awards won by Anthony include Most Sportsmanlike and a grade 8 High School Championship with the Notre Dame Jugglers.

Anthony still has 4 more years of high school to gain recognition and to make it on the CFC100 list in his graduating year of 2021. His goals for the FPC are to, ā€œcontinue to improve my skills and to challenge myself.ā€

Bolanos has been playing football nearly half his life and he really has a passion for the sport.

When asked about why he enjoys playing football, Anthony replied, ā€œIt is fun, I like the contact and I likeĀ working as a team. It makes me a better person as I work hard to better myself. Ā I have met a lot of people and have made many friends over the seasons. Ā I like the competition, the family and brotherhood of football.ā€

When asked about his football idols, Bolanos made his choices based on off the field antics. First was Rob Gronkowski, ā€œI like that he is always helping kids with the Gronk Youth Foundation and all he does with Children’s Hospital.ā€

Another choice of football idol is because of his perseverance.

ā€œBrandon Burlsworth is another one of my role models because even though he wasn’t a star right away (a walk on for Arkansas and aĀ red shirt), he constantly set out to improve himself, he believed in himself when others doubted him, and ended up being one Arkansas OL stars and was named All-American before being recruited to the Colts.ā€

Anthony has an interesting way of keeping fit and active during the offseason. ā€œI am on my highĀ school wrestling team and IĀ train on the offseason with ā€œGame Readyā€ working on my steps strength speed and agilityā€

Wrestling helps linemen to be strong on their feet and how to stay low to the ground to push for every last yard.

Bolanos will hope that his heart and skill will take him to the next level in 2021.
