Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Lineman Douglas loves the “rush” of football

Initially a rugby player, Connor Douglas fell in love with football after a friend recommended that he try out for the football team because he enjoyed tackling in rugby. He says, “I fell in love with the game instantly and the program Rutland Senior has with their amazing coaching staff.”

That started him off on a two year run that doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The offensive and defensive lineman is 6’0, 235-pounds and says that he enjoys every minute and works out and practices so that he can continue to improve. He would like to make the CFC100 list and has that as one of his goals for this next season.

He also says that for the CFCFPC he would like to get noticed and go on to play football at a university. He goes on to say that he is interested in studying Zoology and would like football to be a part of his university experience. “[…] it is important for me to play for a team that supports my dreams,” he says.

Playing at the next level, while also being a student, takes extreme dedication, time management, and sacrifice. However, the rewards of being a student-athlete are hugely beneficial. Douglas says that he will be working out 6 days per week, mainly focusing on strength training and doing agilities one day per week. On his days off, he plans to hit the slopes and snowboard.

Connor looks up to Geno Atkins of the Cincinnati Bengals because of the way he plays the game.

“My football idol is Geno Atkins of the Cincinnati Bengals because I love the way he plays with an aggressive attitude.  I also like that he isn’t the biggest guy; just like me, but he still dominates the football field.”

At the end of the day, Douglas says that he loves the game and the “rush” it gives him.
