Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): LB Kraemer ready to prove himself worthy of the team

Austin Kraemer has had fun thus far in his eight years long football career.

“I have met a lot of great people I wouldn’t of met if I [hadn’t] played football,” said Austin, “I have [also] got to meet some of the pro players I look up to through my camps.”

Throughout this career, Austin has played in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) with the Brampton Bulldogs and with the St. Roch Ravens in the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA).

During his first year with the Ravens, he was awarded Junior Rookie of the Year, and has also won Junior Defensive MVP four times at Super Elite camps.

Aside from attending camps and academies during the offseason, Austin also goes to the gym and trains.

The linebacker’s goals for the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge are to try his best and make the team.

“I love playing football because I love being part of a team and doing my best to not let the other team score,” commented the Raven.

Moreover, on the field Austin has two role models, the first being James Yurichuk from the Toronto Argonauts because he also a linebacker who played for the Brampton Bulldogs.

Austin has has Yurichuk as a coach during the offseason camps for four years now, and he has taught Austin a lot about their position and technique.

“He has encouraged me to be the best I can be not only with football, but with my schooling too,” added the linebacker. “We have become great friends.”

His other role model is his cousin Joey Kraemer, who played football for the University of Texas – El Paso and Eastern Kentucky.

“He unfortunately lost his life in a car accident two years ago,” explained Austin, “I play for him every game.”
