Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): DE Dodd uses football as an outlet

Lord Tweedsmuir Panther, Kyle Dodd, has been playing football for six years now. His love of the game started at the atom level with the Cloverdale Community football league in British Columbia. From there, he played at every level, finishing up with this past season on the Panther’s JV team.

Dodd, a 6’0, 204lbs defensive lineman won Top Lineman of the year for 2015-2016. He is well on his way to perfecting his craft and states that without football, he doesn’t know what he would be doing now. “Football has really changed my life, I am more focussed and passionate, it is my outlet.” he says.

When we asked him why he loves football so much he replied, “it’s the feeling I get of hype when I step on the field! I just love that feeling and the sense of family with the team.” He goes on to say that, while he doesn’t have any one specific player that he looks up to, he does “admire all players that have the determination to make it far”.

People live and die over sport. It is one thing that can evoke raw emotion and bring you to your knees. It also has the ability to create growth and structure that carries through in all aspects of life. Kyle says that for the CFCFPC, he would like to go as far as he can to gain more experience.

In order to accomplish his goal of getting more experience, Dodd can be found at the recreation centre training hard with his football family – his teammates in this off-season.

Football has literally “changed his life”.
