Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): Tiger DE hopes football will “open doors to further his education”

Devon Guy started playing football seven years ago with the Orleans Bengals as a tyke in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA).

The defensive end continued to play with the Bengals until 2016, where he won the A-Cup Championship back in 2013 as a mosquito.

In 2015, he joined the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) to play with the Cumberland Panthers for two years, participating in the 2015 championship game.

Last year, Devon joined his high school team, the St. Matthew Tigers, in the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA), where he had the opportunities to win the championship, as well as OFSAA.

Devon is also currently playing in the Ontario Provincial Football League (OPFL) with the Cumberland Panthers.

The Panther also played for Team East in the former-Ontario Prospect Challenge.

The defensive end will be participating again in this year’s Fox 40 Prospect Challenge and his goals are to gain as much exposure as possible, as well as train with some great players and coaches.

“I’m interested in playing football either here or possibly in the states,” said Devon.

During the offseason, he works with one of his role models, Coach Victor Tedondo, at Gridiron in improve his speed and strength.

Alongside Tedondo, Devon has the opportunities to work with his other idols, Moe Salehe and Jean Guillaume, who have always believed in his ability as a player and made him a better person.

“I love playing football because I like being part of a team, gaining experience, meeting great coaches and mentors,” explained the Panther. “I enjoy the rush of competing and pushing myself to become a better player and person.”

“Playing football will open up doors to further my education while competing in this sport,” added Devon.
