Nathan Passeri’s football career is the story of a young man who stopped at nothing to get on the field. He started playing only two years ago, but with nothing but his determination he was an impactful player on the St Michael’s Kerry Blues defense.
“When I started playing football in May 2016, I was not the greatest player despite giving it everything I had. I truly love the game, but I did not get much playing time on my summer team, however, that made me want to get better. When I went to my new school [St Michael’s], I was focused on being a big part of the team, and I was. I was a crucial part of my team’s defense as I started and made quite a few big plays,” says Passeri.
Passeri has set his goals high for CFCFPC. He wants “to make many highlight plays throughout his years in high school,” says Passeri, so that he “is on the CFC100 by 2020.”
Passeri loves the game of football for a myriad of reasons ranging from the adrenaline rush of game day to the hundreds of hours of work behind the scenes. “I love the game of football for many reasons. I love the adrenaline pumping through my veins, the brotherhood formed through countless hours spent working together, the physicality, and the football tradition,” says Passeri.
To maintain his high level of play, Passeri spends his off-season working out in the gym. He attends as many football camps as he can, and works out with his teammates on fundamentals, foot work, and one-on-ones.
Passeri’s football idol is Tyrann Mathieu, a defensive back on the Arizona Cardinals. “I admire him so much because of his versatility on the field. He also shows that size does not matter as long as you believe in yourself. His work ethic is what keeps me going, it helps me believe that I can do anything I dream of,” says Passeri.
