Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): Macdonald is wise beyond his years

Malcolm Macdonald may be young, but he is wise beyond his years.

He has already understood the secrets to become a great football player: it is a mental game first and foremost, and to be great you have to commit to the game year-round.

“I love football as a whole.  I have tried other sports and found that I have the most fun to play football. I feel that it is the sport that I have the most talent and skills. There is so much to learn, it is a mental and physical game and that keeps me motivated to keep training,” says Macdonald.

“To me, football is year round.  The off-season training is just as important as the regular season.  Not only do I keep up cardio, and strength training in our home gym, but I also attend D2D Winter training at Elite Performance Academy and their Rookie program all year round.  I have a lot to learn and I want to improve my football IQ,” says Macdonald.

At Elite Performance Academy, Macdonald has found more than just a great training program; he found his role model. “At Elite Performance Academy, I look up to Pat Woodcock.  He has taught me that hard work pays off,” says Macdonald.

Macdonald has had great experiences playing the game of football thus far. Whether it is socializing, working out, or simply gaining confidence, Macdonald has only positive memories of football.

“I have only had positive experiences in football.  I have had great coaches from tyke level to coaches at the Ottawa Sooners where I am trying out for the Bantam team. Football is fun and it has enhanced my life – this sport has made me more confident and I have made many close friends because of football,” says Macdonald.

Macdonald is coming to CFCFPC with a great mindset, as all he wants to do is to give everyone a reason to remember his name. “I want to make a difference every time I take the field. I want to be quick off the line and get in the backfield, and get some quarterback sacks,” says Macdonald.
