Former Gael Matt Kirk named CFL’s Canadian Player of the Week


KINGSTON, Ont. (August 17, 2010) – Former Queen’s defensive lineman Matt Kirk of Kingston, Ont., was named the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Canadian Player of the Week for Week 7 of the 2010 CFL season.

Kirk, who plays for the Hamilton Tiger Cats, collected three tackles and two quarterback sacks, both of which came in the fourth quarter to preserve Hamilton’s 39-28 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It was also the Ticats first win on the road this season.

The 6’4, 265 lbs. defensive tackle, who is in his second season with the Ticats and sixth in the CFL, has now recorded 12 tackles and two sacks on the season.
