Football New Brunswick starts U18 program: Aim for 2012 Football Canada Cup

Football New Brunswick will offer a Provincial U18 Football program beginning in April 2011.

This program is open to all minor and high school players who currently reside in New Brunswick and were born in 1994 or 1995.
The U18 program features two stages.

The first or Open stage of this program will involve the formation of regional team(s) in each of the Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John areas. All players who meet the residence and age requirements are welcome to compete at this level regardless of football experience or ability. This is an excellent opportunity for players to strengthen their football skills and abilities and receive coaching from NBHSFL, AFL and CIS coaches. These Open teams will face off beginning with controlled scrimmages and advancing to full games. To better evaluate players as opposed to systems, all Open teams will utilize a common offensive and defensive playbook.

From these Open teams the Provincial coaches will select a 36 player roster for the second or Provincial stage.

The Provincial team is scheduled to play Provincial U18 teams from Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. These interprovincial games will showcase these N.B. athletes to university coaches from across the Maritimes and beyond.

The coaches for this program will be selected minor, high school and university coaches with a passion for football and excellence. They have a stated goal of seeing New Brunswick return to the national stage at the 2012 Football Canada Cup in Ontario.
