Football is all about concentration for DB Delisle

When Vincent Delisle steps out onto the gridiron, the most pressing matter he faces in that moment is figuring out how to shut down the opposition’s offense.

“I have no need to think about anything else (other) than playing when I’m on the football field and I think that’s why I love it so much,” Delisle said. “I love to be on the field and play. (Football) means a lot to me.”

Starting in grade four, football quickly consumed his life. It was his parents who introduced him to the game, and it’s his parents that continue to inspire him. He said that they always support him and are always in the stands cheering him on.

Along with his parents, Delisle said his coaches also motivate him. “Each coach I’ve had since the beginning of my football career (have been) really good coaches, especially my coach for the past two years, Luc Savoie,” he added.

Wrapping up his career with Le Blizzard du Séminaire Saint-François (RSEQ), the seven-year veteran has captured a Bol D’or this past season with his high school team. “It was incredible. We dominated the league from the beginning of the season to the end and we had an awesome season,” he said.

Being part of a dominate team in high school, Delisle was also part of the gold medal winning Team Québec at this year’s Football Canada Cup. He said that the team was really tight and clutch during the tournament.

Soon to be part of the Champlain Lennoxville Cougars (RSEQ Division 1), Delisle has his sights set on winning a collegial division 1 championship. He said he also wants to see a lot of the field despite entering his rookie season.

“I think I’ll be a good player early at the next level and I am working out everyday, lifting weights and running. I love to get better everyday,” Delisle added. “I think my size and my physical abilities give me a good advantage, but also my football IQ and the way I’m able to think about the game.”

While he is not modelling his game after any particular player, he said he enjoys watching Jalen Ramsey, a cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tyrann Mathieu, a safety for the Arizona Cardinals, and Landon Collins, a safety for the New York Giants.

When it comes to being a defensive back, Delisle said, “I like the fact that you are matched up one-on-one, so you have to win a battle against someone else. It’s you versus him. Also, the fact that you need skills to play it.”

The three-time Blizzard captain is also a two-time all-star and a defensive MVP for the Blizzard. In the 2017 season, he had a total of 22.5 tackles and three interceptions. He was also a captain for Team Québec.
