Duncan Lurie (Ashbury Colts / Cumberland Panthers

Class 2012

Duncan has been playing quarter back for 6 seasons. He started playing for the Orleans Bengals in the National Capital Amateur Football Association. His most recent teams include high school Ashbury Colts and the summer minor program of the Cumberland Panthers that plays in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

His quarterback coach during this time has been Ken Guarisco.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Duncan had this to say. “I am very excited about the Canada Cup, and am looking forward to competing with the best athletes in the country. Its an honour to be named to Team East Ontario and I am just looking forward to having a good time and playing some football.”

Nicholas Gorgichuk (Myers Riders / Nepean Redskins / Kanata Knights / South Carleton)

Class 2012

Nick has been playing QB for 7 years. Over that period of time he has played for both the Nepean Redskins and Kanata Knights organizations in NCAFA, the Ottawa Myers Riders organization in the OVFL and high school in the Ottawa area.

Over those 7 years he has been coached by Mike White, Jon Stephens, Jim Dellahunty and Sean Finn. Sean has worked with Nick the longest.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Nick had this to say. “I think that the upcoming Football Canada Cup will be a great experience for everyone involved, especially the players from every province. It’s also a great opportunity for the guys to showcase their talents and show everyone why they were picked to be in this tournament. And, of course we’re all looking forward to do everything we can to bring the gold medal back to our respective provinces.”

Note:
Team Ontario – East originally had 3 quarterbacks on the roster. Izvor Gnjidić withdrew from the competition so that he would not miss any games with his Ontario Varsity Football League team the Etobicoke Eagles who are 3-2 and fighting for a playoff spot. It is a difficult and unfortunate decision that Izvor had to make.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
