Football BC announces U18 tackle tryouts

VANCOUVER, B.C. ā€“ Football BC announced today that the identification camps for the British Columbia provincial under-18 team to compete at the 2010 Football Canada Cup will take place on the weekend of Saturday, April 10 and Sunday April 11 and also on the weekend of Saturday, April 17 and Sunday April 18.

The 2010 Football Canada Cup is being held at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia from July 10 ā€“ 17, 2010. To be eligible, all players must be under 18 as of July 31, 2010 and must be born in no later than 1994. (If a player turns 18 on August 1, 2010, he will be eligible to play).

The identification camps are free of charge and open to all age eligible players who were registered members of Football BC last season. The camp dates are as follows:

Players attending the identification camps are asked to bring their picture ID showing proof of age, helmet, shoulder pads, mouth guard, practice jersey, football shoes and shorts. A player cannot attend more than one identification camp.

The identification camps will consist of combine-type testing followed by a limited-contact practice. From the identification camps, the top 70 players will be selected and asked to participate in the Team B.C. tryout camp from May 22 – 24, 2010 at Simon Fraser University. Players selected to the final 40-man roster must be available from July 6 – 18, 2010 to take part in the Football Canada Cup.
