WEEK 2 RANKINGS

WEEK 1 RANKINGS

GAME OF THE WEEK:

Tier III
#4 Cold Lake Royals at #5 St. Paul Lions
Friday, September 24, 4:00 p.m.
St. Paul Regional H.S. (St. Paul)
One of the best rivalries in Alberta high school football, this Tier III clash is an early season treat for fans in the Wheatland League. Cold Lake took both games from the Lions last year (25-2 in the regular season and 28-7 in the playoffs) but St. Paul seems to have upped the ante this year winning their first two games by a combined score of 118-20. Provincials are a long way off but usually the team that wins this game set the tone for the rest of the year. Should be fun this Friday!

Tier IV
#4 Kate Andrews Pride at #3 Willow Creek Cobras
Saturday, September 25, 3:30 p.m.
Willow Creek H.S. (Claresholm)
A rare Saturday contest for these two Tier IV powerhouses and a little early in the season for a game of this importance. Only one representative from the Southern Alberta League will advance to the Tier IV Provincials this season as opposed to two in past years so this game will give us an early indication of who that might be. Both teams shutout and blew out their opponents last week by over 40 points each so something has to give this week.

Here are the Weekly Top-10 Rankings for all four Tier’s of high school football in Alberta for the 2010 season. These rankings will come out every Sunday (except for Labor Day when they will come out on Tuesday) from now up until Nov. 8.
The teams are slotted into Tiers based on their estimated school size, which may change once official counts are known at the end of September. Please note that games vs. US opponents, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools due to too many variables and inconsistent rules for those games.
Should you have any questions about the rankings or listed teams please contact Football Alberta at (780)427-8108 or check out our website at www.footballalberta.ab.ca.
