Family over statistics

Calgary defensive back recently commits to CWUAA team’s 2014 class.

Marco Scafidi will be commencing his CIS career in the Prairies.

However, it wonā€™t be in his home province.

The 5ā€™10, 180 pound defensive back from Calgary Alberta will be playing in Saskatchewan this fall.Ā  Recently, Scafidi committed to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies for the 2014 CWUAA season.

ā€œI chose Saskatchewan for the academics,ā€ explained Scafidi of his decision.Ā  ā€œAs important as football is to me, I needed to make sure I was getting a good education, and seeing that I wanted to take business, the Edwards School of Business in Saskatoon was a perfect fit.ā€

ā€œSecondly, the coaching staff was unbelievably welcoming and caring. They made it clear that they look at their players as family rather than statistics, and I couldn’t be happier with that, and thirdly the atmosphere down there is fantastic for football. It brings the community together and I wanted to be a part of that as well!ā€

The defensive back joins the Huskies after guiding the Notre Dame Pride of the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA) to their second consecutive Provincial Tier 1 Championship. He also earned a Boutlon Division All-Star selection last spring when he suited up for the Calgary Mavericks of the Calgary Area Midget Football Association (CAMFA).

Scafidi will be reunited with former Pride teammate, CFC TOP 100 Tyler Chow at Saskatchewan.
