Essex Ravens Varsity looking for great play in 2010

Team Strengths
– Offensively the Varsity Ravens return most of last years starters which should prove to be a powerful force. Austin Kennedy returns for his final OV season and has been pushed by last years JV QB Josh Deehan and newcomer Devan Green. The receiving core will be among the best the Ravens have ever fielded including last years leading receiver Dylan Whitfield, Dakota Stewart, Thaddeus Stewart and Kevin Sylveria.

The running game will also be one to contend with as Tarrance Crawford joins a veteran stable of backs which should provide the Ravens with that home run hitter not seen since League record holder Daryl Townsend was carrying the rock. The offensive line as always will be a strong point but will be young as first year varsity players Jeremy Veres and Daniel Benson look to take 2 of the 5 starting spots. With 9 Offensive lineman in camp depth is solid.
Defensively the Ravens need to replace a dynamic quartet of Linebackers, those replacements will be young but are very talented and show tremendous potential. The defensive line will be the deepest ever which should allow a good rotation which will keep them all fresh for the entire game. The secondary will be filled with plenty of play makers with returning starters Josh Tiede and Dillon Amlin mixed with newcomers PJ Baylis, Austin Crumb and Richard Veenstra all who can provide punt and kick return ablility.

In order to be successful we must
– With play makers at every skill position balance will be key as the Ravens keep the opposition guessing. On the defensive side with the youth at the LB position a couple of players will need to step up and replace the 25 sacks that Kruba and Moynahan provided last year.
