The Ravens rushed for over 300 yards en route to a 35-18 win over the Hamilton Hurricanes at the Rogers Centre in Toronto to claim the Adam Conference title.

“We did what they said couldn’t be done against (the Hurricanes) and that’s rush the ball on them,” Ravens head coach Glen Mills said.

“(Hamilton) didn’t have a rushing touchdown against them all year and we put three on them.”

Essex’s win will send the club to the league final for the fourth time in nine years. The Ravens will face the Cumberland Panthers, who won the Wettges Conference final by a 41-21 count over the Etobicoke Eagles.

The two will square off in Ottawa Saturday for the championship.

“Our guys have just stayed focused and gotten after it,” said Mills, whose team has won three playoff games away from home.

For the second-straight week, the Ravens found themselves in an early hole with Hamilton jumping to a 7-0 lead.

“We were a little nervous because of the lights (at the Rogers Centre) and the atmosphere and we were playing one of the best defensive teams,” Essex running back Tarrence Crawford said.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
