DB, DT commits seek to improve with Windsor Lancers

Windsor adds two Ontario commits to their Class of 2017.

It’s only a matter of time before defensive back Spencer Agard from Football North and defensive lineman Zack Taylor from College Avenue Secondary School grab hold of the opportunity that the Windsor Lancers have given them.

For Spencer Agard, Windsor, Ontario, is the city of opportunity. He said that he chose the Lancers because they provided him the best chance to obtain quality coaching while getting playing time in his rookie season.

“I felt very comfortable with all of the coaches from the beginning,” Agard said. “Head Coach D’Amore and Coach Frasier made me feel very much at home at the school and in the city.”

Beyond the field, Agard has dreams of becoming a journalist. He will be pursing a Communications degree at Windsor.

The 5’11, 170lbs eight-year veteran has played primarily as a corner and safety. Hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, he has played with the Brampton Bulldogs (OVFL), the Mississauga Warriors (OVFL) and the Port Credit Warriors (Region of Peel Secondary School Athletics Association). He won athlete of the year in his grade 12 season with Port Credit. He was also a member of the inaugural season of Football North, a football prep program based out of Clarkson High School.

Zack Taylor is far from a veteran, but that means nothing in the long-run. Hovering at 6’4, 275lbs with a career spanning only two years, his athleticism has allotted him quite the opportunity.

“The coaching staff was patient, informative and overall good people,” Taylor said. “They didn’t force me to pick Windsor. They made sure I knew I had a choice.”

And what a choice it was. Taylor said that Windsor gave him the academic chance to pursue Criminology while continuing to do what he loves, football. “The university itself was what I wanted out of an university,” he added.

The defensive tackle’s career only includes the College Avenue Secondary School Knights (Thames Valley Regional Athletics). Originally from Woodstock, Ontario, he is a 2016 TVRA all-star and Varsity Cup champion. In 2015-2016, he was the Knights male athlete of the year and was given an athletic achievement award.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
