Spencer took some time off from the gridiron to pursue his sailing career where he made a tremendous waves.

“I am an avid sailor and am on the provincial sailing team,” says Spencer.  “I qualified for the youth worlds in laser radial and will compete this summer in Kingston, Ontario.”

Although he is passionate about sailing, he has returned back to the gridiron and highlights his teammates for a memorable moment in 2014.

“The highlight of last season was getting the opportunity to play with so many veterans on my team and having the chance to play and learn from them,” adds the Cheetahs defensive back.

Spencer has had many influences throughout his career, but mainly credits his coaches.

“The most influential people to me in football have been Nico Jordan and David Kelly,” Spencer says. “They were my football coaches and taught me how to play the game.”

While Spencer, hasn’t had much recruitment action, he continues to work hard in the gym to keep in top condition.

“My training regime is fairly committed,” adds Spencer, who is considering McMaster, Queen’s and Mount Allison.  “I work out twice a week at the Canada games centre with a crossfit trainer.”

“I also go to the gym a few times a week on my own as well as an hour of fitness before sailing practice four days a week.”

Overall, Spencer always pushing himself to be better.

“I am hoping to improve my speed and strength this year as well as my endurance,” says the Cheetahs standout.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
