Conor Elliott & Michael Warner signs with Toronto Argonauts

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club signed two of its 2010 CFL Canadian Draft picks, including a Western Mustangs standout defensive and special teams player.
Linebacker and long-snapper Conor Elliott was taken by Toronto in the sixth round, 44[SUP]th[/SUP] overall, from the University of Western Ontario. Michael Warner is a 300-pound offensive lineman who the Double Blue selected in the fifth round, 32[SUP]nd[/SUP] overall, out of the University of Waterloo. Both OUA products are signed through the 2012 season.
Elliott, a life-long Argos fan, was named Second-Team CIS and an OUA All-Star as a senior for the Mustangs. Elliott played junior football for the London Falcons where he was a captain and a provincial MVP.
Warner, a civil engineering major at Waterloo, was twice named the Warriors’ Lineman of the Year. He was invited to the CFL’s annual Evaluation Camp in March of this year and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario.
The Argos now have six 2010 draft picks (OT Joe Eppele, KR/WR Steven Turner, WR Spencer Watt, & DB/K Grant Shaw) under contract. All six draft picks will take to the field on June 2 when Rookie Camp begins.

College: 2009 His 44.5 tackles were second on the team, he also made with 2 sacks, 3 INT, and one interception in 8 games…Named to the East-West Bowl game…Named All Canadian Second Team Defence, as well as Second Team OUA All-Star…2008 Played in 4 games collecting 7 tackles and 1 sack. In 2006, he played in 5 games and had 13 tackles…JUNIOR (2005-06) Elliott was captain of the London Falcons in 2005 and 2006 and was an All-Ontario MVP in 2005.

Personal: Conor was born and raised in London, Ontario where he was an Argos fan. His parents are Linda and Ron. He has two older brothers, Adam & Ben, who first inspired Conor to play football, and a younger brother named Troy who plays for the London Falcons, a team that Conor helps coach. He’s a sociology major at Western Ontario and hopes to be a teacher one day. Conor and some teammates started a program at a local London-area public school called Reading Buddy. He’s also a closet Detroit Red Wings fan.

Personal: Mike is completing his Civil Engineering degree at Waterloo. He attended Westdale Secondary School in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. Mike’s sister is Marie and his parents are Ian and Jackie Warner. Off the field, Michael enjoys playing basketball and is also the offensive line coach for the Tri-City Predators, a minor football team in the Kitchener/Waterloo area.
