Condolences: Taylor & Salandy families

It never is a great time to celebrate a life taken so young, but Christmas time is definitely a harder.

It came to my attention today of two deaths that have immediate impact on the high school & minor football family in Ontario.

From myself and everyone at CFC we pass on our condolences to both the Taylor & Salandy family.

Winston Salandy, a high school football coach from Newmarket High School, lost his wife on Christmas day. I do not know Winston personally but i want to pass along our condolences.

The second family i want to extend my condolences is the Taylor family on the death of Mark Taylor (picture). This one is more personal to me because I played football with Mark and coached Mark.

Mark recently got back into the game, helping coach the Niagara Spears Varsity football team in the Ontario Varsity Football League. I spoke with Mark on two occasions this year. Once was at Jacob Hespeler high school after an OVFL game between the Lions and Spears. The other time was before the season on the phone and a few chats on facebook. Mark had a renewed enthusiasm for the game, exuding his passion for helping his players and also his passion for what we were doing at CFC.

Mark you were a passionate and interesting person, a person I was fortunate to cross paths with during my time.

I was on Mark’s facebook page today and this quote was on it.

Be the change you wish to see in the world
