Concordia coaches attract two CFC60s, one other

Stingers add three Québec commits to their 2020 class.

Vincent Rioux, a wide receiver from Cégep de Rimouski, and CFC60s Mathieu Robitaille, a receiver from Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy, and Mathieu Forget, a quarterback from Cégep de Victoriaville, are primed and ready to give it their all with the Concordia Stingers.

Vincent Rioux

Having played as a receiver, running back and on the special teams, Vincent Rioux will be bringing his versatility to the Stingers.

“I chose Concordia because of the type of offense they have,” he said, “and because I like the dynamism of the coaching staff. They have a lot of great, young coaches that won a lot in their past and played (at a) high level. That’s a great place that can teach me a lot on myself and on the football field.”

Rioux, who is interested in exercise science, added that he is a Francophone who is interested in studying in English. He said that Concordia is a good university.

Standing at 5’11, 175lbs, Rioux spent four years with Les Pionniers de Rimouski (RSEQ Division 3) and four with Les Sélects de Rimouski in high school.

CFC60 Mathieu Robitaille

For Mathieu Robitaille, joining the Stingers is an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than himself.

“I liked the coaches, and I think I could be a great fit in their offense. I also liked the mentality of creating an identity and accomplishing something big,” said the 6’1, 185lbs slot receiver. “I really think the offensive coaching staff can help me get to were I want to be as a receiver, and I look forward to work with coach Seydou.”

Calling Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier, Québec home, Robitaille has spent five years playing with Le Blizzard du Séminaire Saint-François (RSEQ) and three with Le Notre-Dame du Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (RSEQ Division 1). He won a Bol d’or champion in 2016 with Le Blizzard. He is interested in taking athletic therapy.

CFC60 Mathieu Forget

Mathieu Forget is ready to get to work with the Stingers. “I’m aiming (for) the starting spot, and I want to be ‘the guy’ for the next couple of years,” he said of his commitment to Concordia.

Standing at 6’2, 215lbs, Forget played with Les Vulkins du Cégep de Victoriaville (RSEQ Division 3). He was named ‘rookie of the year’ in 2017. He is also a back-to-back all-star in 2018 and 2019.

“Every single coach I’ve encountered so far taught me a lot and of course my parents always supported throughout this journey so far. They push me in the right direction,” Forget said.

Forget, who is interested in business, marketing and sales, added that he is a “coachable, hard working player that will do everything to benefit for the team as much as possible.”
