Competing with the best

CEGEP offensive lineman becomes second CFC TOP 100 player to join Vanier Cup Champions.

A second CFC TOP 100 player has opted to join the Vanier Cup Championsā€™ 2014 class.

Francis Chabot recently committed to the Laval Rouge et Or.Ā  The 6ā€™7, 135 pound offensive lineman from Quebec City, Quebec outlined proximity and the strength of the football program as the main reasons for deciding to join the RSEQ team.

ā€œI committed to Laval, because I wanted to stay close to my family,ā€ explained Chabot of his decision.Ā  ā€œOne of the other factors is that I am going to compete with the best offensive linemen in the country.ā€

ā€œWhen you compete with such great players, it is impossible to not play at your full potential. Those guys will help me becoming the best lineman I can be.ā€

The Quebec lineman is looking forward to being instructed by the Rouge et Or coaching staff as well as using the facilities.

ā€œAnother reason I chose Laval is the coaching staff,ā€ added Chabot.Ā  ā€œGlen Constantin is one of the best head coaches in the history of the CIS and he helps players reaching their full potential.ā€

ā€œCarl Brennan is also one of the best offensive line coaches in the country and I really think that he is going to give me all the tools I need to perform in this league. I was also very impressed by the Laval’s facilities. The new PEPS is awesome. Physical preparation is very important and I think that Laval have the facilities and the trainers to help the player’s development. It will be a pleasure to join the best team in the country.ā€

Chabot comes to the Rouge et Or after completing his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, FX-Garneau Elans.Ā  Previous to the Elans, the Quebec offensive lineman suited up for his high school team, Roger Comtois Patriotes of RSEQ Juvenile Division 1. He is the second CFC TOP 100 player to commit to the Vanier Cup Champions as pivot Hugo Richard was the other.
