Today, CFC features class 2014 star defensive back/wide receiver from the Pickering Trojans, Matthew Boateng. Matthew has been playing football for seven seasons.

For four seasons, Matthew has played for the Ajax-Pickering Dolphins of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). Previous to that, he’s suited up for the Oshawa Hawkeyes (played for three seasons). His high school football team is the Pickering Trojans.
The standout will be playing in the all-star game on May 6th at McMaster University as a member of the GTA Rising Stars team. However, this is not the onl yspecial opportunity Matthew has experienced in his young football career.
“My most memorable football experience was going to Texas to play for Team Canada, against Team USA,” says Matthew of playing for the 2011 East Bay Youth All Amercian Bowl Game for Team Canada. “We beat them, and I got defensive MVP for Team Canada.”
There are two individuals that have had a profound effect on the Trojans football star’s playing career and life in general.
“The most influential people in my life for football, is my youth pastor at my church, Pastor Clayton,” explains the Trojans standout. “It amazes me how much of a change he made in his life and where God is taking him.”
“My influence in football is O.J. Atogwe, because he made it to the NFL as a safety from Canada.”
Matthew is appreciative of all the things he’s learned from the gridiron.
“Playing football has given me plenty of good attributes for life,” comments Matthew. “It has taught me to take responsibility for all of my actions, and to do my best in everything that I do.”
