Justin began his football at age 8 with the atom wildcats and played with that organization ever since (2 seasons atom, 3 peewee, 2 bantam, 3 midget). The first all star team that he made was in grade 8 when he was selected to play for the 2008 Alberta summer game team (all other players were grade 9). In grade 9 he traveled with a ‘Calgary Select’ team that played in Belleville, Illinois and captained the team. The following summer he played on the 2009 Bantam Bowl team and won against the ‘North’ squad, also captained that team. In 2008 Justin was awarded CBFA (Calgary bantam football association) offensive lineman of the year and was also awarded that for his team as well. In 2009 he was a rookie of the year for the midget wildcats and started every game. In grade 10 he started every game for the St. Mary’s senior team at left tackle and that year was named a CAMFA (Calgary area midget football association) all star. In 2010 he won a city championship with St. Mary’s, starting both ways and was a captain. He was the lineman of the year for St. Mary’s and was also named a CSHAA (Calgary senior high school athletic association) all star.

Justin’s most memorable football experience was “the 2010 team Alberta Hawaii trip where we went down to Maui and played a Polynesian high school named king Kamehameha. the practices were the most intense thing Ive ever been able to experience i have never practiced underneath a sun that hot, but some how it just made you better and i loved that. i was fortunate enough to have my head coach of saint Marys Bill McConkey down there with me as well. i played both ways in Hawaii as left tackle and defensive tackle and we ended up winning that game, it was a great experience to meet every one from all of Alberta and come together to play some really good football.”

The most influential people in his life are “my family, from having a mother so supportive of everything i do and a father who believes i can do anything i set my mind to and encourages me on, they have never missed one of my games, even if that meant changing and canceling holidays. the most influential people in football would have to be my brothers, i started playing because of my eldest brother who was a highly awarded linebacker of his time and went on to play two years at UBC for the thunder birds, i always strove to be like him, to make every all star team he made and every award he won, even though i ended up playing an entirely different position! my other brother is also very influential towards me, he hasn’t been gifted as much as my other older brother but the hard work and dedication i see in him for him to succeed in football is insurmountable, i always strive to be like both of my older brothers when it comes to football players and human beings.”

Justin believes in always “striving to get better”. He enjoys leading others and helping others better themselves on and off the field.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
