Winston played his high school football at Forest Hill in Toronto under coach Ron Singer. He went down to play a post graduate (Prep) season in Georgia at North Georgia Prep in 2010. He played in the GTA all-star game in 2010 and was Offensive Line MVP at the 2009 University of Buffalo camp.

He has lots of memorable football experiences but being selected to play for Team World and play against Team USA is a great honour and “definitely up there”.

He credits his family and coach Ron Singer. “My family have helped me so much with all of this especially the recruiting I have to credit coach singer for racking up his long distance bill calling US coaches especially UCONN where he has developed a great relationship with there Offensive Line coach.”

Winston wants to give other Canadians thinking about playing in the NCAA some advice. “In order to play in the NCAA you have to qualify in the Clearinghouse. Learn about it, register yourself in it. and build a relationship with your guidance councilor. The dream of playing D1 football is great but if you don’t qualify you don’t play; bottom line. As Canadians you already have to be better than the guy you are battling against for that spot so don’t let that hold you back.”

Follow Winston the end of this month when he down in Texas on his twitter account.
