Drew started playing football for the Canterbury Mustangs at the age of seven in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA). He played with them up until playing high school with the St. Mark Lions. He also played for the Myers Riders (OVFL) summer team and played one year in 2008 for Team Ontario – East at the Football Canada cup.

Many awards have come Drew’s way during that time including a rookie of the year, 9 MVP awards, a bronze medal with Team Ontario east, an outstanding linebacker award, and a city championship at the age of 9.

His most memorable football experience to date was his one and only championship when they beat the ‘favoured’ Cumberland Panthers by a couple of touchdowns.

The most influential people in his life are his parents. “They’ve both always supported me in whatever I try, especially football. My dad is the first football coach I’ve ever had and he’s the reason for my dedication to the sport, among getting me to practice on time and training me, he taught me the ins and outs of football and showed me how to read the play and put myself in a position to make that play. My Mom is still fine tuning her football knowledge, but come rain or shine she is at my games supporting me, yelling and screaming with my Dad. Both my parents came to Sherbrook for Team Ontario, and they’re both coming to Texas for Team World. My Parents also make sure I’m training and healthy. Some of the playing styles I look up to were styles like my Dad, Jack Lambert, Dick Butkus type of in your face, hardnosed attitude, where the idea of backing down is not an option.”

Good luck in Texas Drew!
