Class 2011: D J Lalama, St. Paul’s – WHSFL Defensive MVP / Canada Cup all-star


Today’s recruiting feature hilites DJ Lalama, this years Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL) division 1 defensive MVP. DJ has been playing football for 10 years.

D J started playing minor football for the Fort Gary Lions, where he played for 7 years. The last 3 years he has started for the St. Paul’s Crusaders AAA high school team.

D J is a 6’1, 210 lb Linebacker, from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has played for team Manitoba and was named to the Football Canada cup all-star team, and received game MVP in 2 of the 3 games (vs Team Ontario, both east and west) played. Along with this years WHSFL defensive MVP and all-star nomination, he has also received the Doug Brown Football Manitoba Scholarship. Also he is assistant captain for high school hockey team, and league all star. Last season was named finals WHSFL finals MVP.

D J’s most memorable football experience was winning the WHSFL AAA Provincial Title in his junior year.

D J told CFC that his most influential people have been his parents: “the love and support they have given me has afforded me the opportunity to play and succeed.”

He also credits his trainer, Sherwin Vasallo, owner of Acceleration Performance, and staff, for pushing him to new limits and having helped him reach the heights he has.

Also Simon Lazanja has played a big part in helping showcase him to American schools.

D J closed by saying “Without the help of these people I would not be where I am today.”
