Today CFC features class 2011 District 10 (Guelph) linemen of the year Ben Burley of J.F. Ross. Ben started playing touch and flag when he was seven years old and started tackle when he enrolled in high school.

Ben Burley #70

Offensive / Defensive Line

Team:

J.F. Ross

Commitment: None

Considerations:
Ottawa, Guelph, Western

As mentioned above Ben started playing tackle football at high school. He was an all star in both 2009 and 2010, winning District 10 linemen of the year in 2010. He was part of the J.F. Ross championship team in 2009 that won both District 10 and CWOSSA.

His most memorable football experience was winning the ‘D-10’ championship. “Playing at the University of Guelph in front of the hometown crowd and fighting with and against many of friends meant more than winning CWOSSA in Saugeen that year.”

Ben’s older brother has been a big inspiration for him. “He now plays for the Western Mustangs and is in his 3rd year. But he was the one who got me into football in high school. He also sets the bar for me to beat, I didn’t know if I should go onto to play football or rugby at the next level they are both sports I love but seeing that he made Western’s team has giving me confidence to take on the challenge to be better than he ever was. He has a Yates cup under his belt but I have bigger dreams of winning a Vanier.”

“‘Be The Best’ is what I try to live by, a coach said it to me early in high school football and it stuck with me it pushes me to be better than my brother and motivates me to continue with football.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
