CJFL: Ontario Conference Major Award Winners

The Ontario Conference is pleased to announce their Outstanding Player Award winners for the 2017 regular season.

Of the nine awards handed out the Windsor AKO Fratmen have three winners, while the Ottawa Sooners have two.

Ontario Conference Major Award Winners:

Coach of the Year – Mike LaChance – Windsor AKO Fratmen has his team playing at a high level, winners of seven straight to clinch first place and homefield advantage throughout the CJFL Canadian Bowl Championship Series

Outstanding Offensive Lineman – Austin Rowe – London Beefeaters

Outstanding Defensive Lineman – Adam Slikboer – Windsor AKO Fratmen – 13 tackles, 3 assisted tackles and 4 sacks

Alex Stajic Memorial Special Teams Award –David Adeniran Jr – Hamilton Hurricanes – 18 kick returns for 337 yards and 1 touchdown.  He averaged 18.7 yards each return

Return Specialist – Marcus Severe – Ottawa Sooners – 30 kick returns for 675 yards and 2 touchdowns. His average return was 22.5 yards

Defensive Rookie of the Year – Defensive Back Isaiah Bonenfant – 28 tackles, 4 assisted tackles and 1 forced fumble

Offensive Rookie of the Year – Quarterback Clarke McCallum – London Beefeaters – 104 of 168 for 1,464 yards, 12 touchdowns and a 61.9% pass completion rate.  He also ran 30 times for 215 yards and 6 touchdowns

Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year – Defensive lineman – Adam Slikboer – Windsor AKO Fratmen – 13 tackles, 3 assisted tackles and 4 sacks

Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year – Receiver Malcolm Carter – Ottawa Sooners – 23 receptions for 438 yards and 7 touchdowns*

This weekend the Ontario Conference open the CJFL Canadian Bowl Championship Series with a pair of semi-finals.  First up the #2 Hamilton Hurricanes host the #3 London Beefeaters on Saturday at 4:00pm at Tim Hortons Field.  Then at 7:30pm on Saturday the #1 Windsor AKO Fratmen welcomes the #4 Ottawa Sooners to Alumni Field.
