The CIS East-West bowl week continues today with both teams participating in “power practices” starting at 10:00 am (2 practices with short break in between). After the practice players will have some ‘down time’ while the coaches hit the links for some much needed ‘recruiting blackout’ golf.
– 75 players participated in the CFL ‘free agent’ camp which saw as many Americans participate as Canadians
– a 4.3 40 yard dash was a hilite of the free agent camp
– all 5 East-West QBs (Prud’homme, Graves, Marshall, Greene, & Quinlan) showed flashes of brilliance in the skelly and 1 on 1 sessions
– the five Japanese player participants (1 QB & 4 receivers) made some plays during the one on one period
– special teams, always a challenge in an all-star game, played a big importance in both teams practices
– all 8 CFL teams and TSNs Duane Forde were around scouting the CFL draft class of 2012
– Team Canada Senior National Team head coach Larry Haylor is turning over every stone, scouting both the East-West talent (where Acadia’s Defensive Lineman Jake Thomas is participating – recently added to the Senior Team) and the CFL free agent talent
– SMU Huskie receiver Jahmeek Taylor and Laurier receiver Shamawd Chambers had impressive one on one sessions
– the East’s linebacking core looks to be the strength of that teams defense – all but two coming from the Q (Samaël Lavaud Laval, Filipe Fonseca Da Silva Sherbrooke, Frédérick Plesius Laval, Charles-Evens Peltrop McGill, LB Tyler Sawyer Ottawa, Wilkerson DeSouza Toronto, LB Jonathan Beaulieu-Richard Montreal)
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
