Wide receiver Josh Blanchard of the Mount Allison Mounties is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Oct. 12, 2014.
Blanchard, a 5-foot-11, fourth-year sociology student in his fifth year of eligibility, had nine receptions for 118 total yards inĀ SaturdayāsĀ 33-1 win over the Saint Maryās Huskies, including a 55-yard touchdown reception.
Blanchard also posted stats on special teams, including two kickoff returns for 40 yards and six punt returns for 41 yards.

The Tantallon, N.S. nativeās stats also included three solo tackles and one pass breakup.

Kicker/punter Ryan Begin of the Acadia University Axemen is the Atlantic University Sport football special teams player of the week.
A fourth-year business student from Orleans, Ont., Begin was successful on five of five field goal attempts in Acadiaās 26-4 victoryĀ SaturdayĀ over the StFX X-Men. This places him a nine-way tie for third in the AUS record books for the most field goals made by an individual in a single game.
Begin is now 15 for 15 on the season in field goal attempts.
His stats inĀ SaturdayāsĀ win also included 10 punts for 342 yards and five kickoffs for 242 yards. Additionally, he was successful on his only extra-point kick.

OFFENCE: Beau Lumley (Windsor, Ont.) ā 2nd yr. ā Windsor Lancers
The second-year back from Windsor played a huge role in his teamās playoff-clinching win against the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Lumley was effective both as a running back and receiving option, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, and adding 99 yards on six catches to his totals. Lumley is averaging 75 rushing yards per game this season.
DEFENCE: Michael MooreĀ (Mississauga, Ont.) ā 1st yr. ā Queen’s Gaels
The Queenās rookie arguably had the best day of his young career, recording 4.5 tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception, and one punt block as the Gaels got their first official win of the season against the Varsity Blues. Moore was all over the ball, and was especially important early when the game was still close, creating the forced fumbles and interceptions in the first half, killing Torontoās momentum.

For a second straight week, fourth-year kicker Daniel Ferraro nailed five field goals and played another huge role in a win for the Gryphons who improved to 5-1 on the season.Ā Ferraro accounted for 20 points in a 44-24 victory over the Carleton Ravens on Friday night, highlighted by three field goals of over 40 yards (41, 42 and 43).Ā Ferraro currently leads CIS with 21 made field goals and has also ranks sixth in the country with a 39.4 yards per punt average.Ā This past Friday, Ferraro had six punts for an average of 43.7 yards with a longest of 49 yards.Ā Three of his six punts were inside Carletonās 20 yard line.
