CIS blackout begins Monday…apparently

Even though the CIS: Athletes Guide clearly states on their website that “recruiting black-out periods are restricted to football, and exist from December 23rd to January 2nd inclusively” we have been notified by multiple coaches that in fact the blackout does not begin until Monday December 24th and ends on January 1st.

Apparent CIS ‘offline’ wording is:

“BE IT RESOLVED THAT, BEGINNING IN 2004, THERE BE NINE (9) CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF RECRUITING BLACK-OUT BY CIS PROGRAMS FROM DECEMBER 24TH TO JANUARY 1ST INCLUSIVE.   DURING THIS TIME, THERE WILL BE NO CONTACT OF POTENTIAL STUDENT-ATHLETES BY ANY PERSON REPRESENTING THE RESPECTIVE INSTITUTION.”

Since 2010 the CIS website has read the above (as it does now).   Another example of how self-regulation does not work…but you are only punished if you break one of two…check that, three rules…drugs, eligibility reasons, & two-way radios.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
