TORONTO – Emmanuel Arceneaux, Odell Willis, Brett Maher and Andrew Harris, were named the Canadian Football League Players of the Week for Week 4 of the 2014 Canadian Football League season.
The four players were chosen by a panel of judges including: former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
CFL Offensive Player of the Week
Emmanuel Arceneaux
WR – B.C. Lions
Montreal Alouettes 5 @ B.C. Lions 41
BC Lions wide receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux was named the Offensive Player of the Week for Week 4. Arceneaux caught eight receptions for 145 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in the Lions’ 41-5 win over the visiting Montreal Alouettes.
Early in the first quarter, the product of Alcorn State University hauled in a highlight reel 35-yard touchdown to extend the Lions lead to 10. Quarterback Kevin Glenn connected again with Arceneaux in the third with a 10-yard strike; John Beck finished the game at quarterback and paired up with the receiver for a 27-yard touchdown pass.
This season, Arceneaux has recorded 198 receiving yards on 13 receptions – good enough for fifth in the CFL; he sits tied for second in touchdowns with three.
This is Arceneaux’s first Player of the Week award in his career.
CFL Defensive Player of the Week
Odell Willis
DE – Edmonton Eskimos
Edmonton Eskimos 26 @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers 3
Edmonton Eskimos defensive end Odell Willis was named the Defensive Player of the Week for Week 4. Willis had two tackles, including a sack; he recorded his first career interception and returned it for his first career touchdown in the Eskimos’ 26-3 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The 6’2″ 255 lbs lineman from Meridian, Mississippi and standout from West Georgia, is currently tied for second in the CFL with four sacks on the season.
This marks back-to-back weeks that an Edmonton Eskimo defensive lineman has won the Defensive Player of the Week (Almondo Sewell won last week).
This is Willis’s first Player of the Week award in his career.
CFL Special Teams Player of the Week
Brett Maher
K/P – Ottawa REDBLACKS

Ottawa REDBLACKS kicker and punter Brett Maher was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 4. Maher went a perfect 6-for-6 on field goals and scored all his teams points, in their historic first game at TD Place – the franchise’s first ever win – an 18-17 decision over the Toronto Argonauts.
With under a minute to play in the game, Maher hit a 27-yard field goal to give the REDBLACKS the 18-17 lead. Maher also kicked successful field goals from 48, 32, 30, 26 and 22 yards away in the game.
Maher had six punts in the game, averaging over 51 yards per punt, with his longest reaching 57 yards.
Maher, a Kearney, Nebraska native and a product of University of Nebraska, is 9-for-11 kicking field goals this season and is currently tied for fourth in kicking points with 33.
This is Maher’s first season in the CFL and his first Player of the Week award.
CFL Canadian Player of the Week
Andrew Harris
RB – BC Lions

BC Lions running back Andrew Harris was named the Canadian Player of the Week for Week 4. Harris had 12 carries for 72 yards, four receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown, in the Lions 41-5 win over the Alouettes.
Harris a Winnipeg, Manitoba native and Vancouver Island Raiders product, scored his lone touchdown in the game when he caught a John Beck pass and broke a tackle for the 13-yard major.
Harris currently is the league leader in rushing yards with 273 yards, sits third in the league in receiving yards with 245 and is tied for second in the league with three touchdowns.
This is Harris’ second straight Canadian Player of the Week award and the eighth of his career.
