#CFCOVFL PREVIEW: Warriors set to face tough Sabrecats’ defence

Heading into Week 6 of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL), Ā the varsity Mississauga Warriors (Varsity) have a crucial game at home against the Sault Ste Marie Sabercats.

With a 2-2 record, the Warriors currently hold the last playoff spot in the Adams’Ā Conference and can overtake the team that is just above of them in the standings, the Sault (SSM) Sabercats.

The Warriors are coming off a 22-3 victory over the Etobicoke Eagles after dropping their previous two games on the road. The Warriors hope to gain momentum as the team has lacked consistency and not put together consecutive wins this season.

As for the Sabrecats, the team has lost their last two games and has faced trouble when playing quality opponents this season.

This game will be an interesting one, as it is a matchup of strength versus strength. The Warriors who torched opposing secondaries led by their quarterback Kevin John, who leads the league in passing yards, best quarterback rating and is second in the league with nine passing touchdowns. Additionally, John has hauled in 159 rushing yards.

On the other hand, Sabrecats defence will try to get after the quarterback and force turnovers. Their defence gets sacks and is second in forced fumble recoveries as well as interceptions.

Both teams will try to use their strengths to guide them to another victory in their the race to the postseason. It is expected to be a gameĀ featuring a strong passing attack versus an opportunistic defence.
