In the Team Central versus Team Halton-Peel grade seven match-up, Team Central ran away with the game early with a final score of 64-0. With some monstrous performances by individual players, Omarion Martin Pendley stood out as overall MVP with Julius Joseph-Brown being named as the offensive MVP and Kaden Charles as the defensive MVP.
Running back Omarion Martin Pendley (#3 Central) wasted no time putting his stamp on the game. He had a total of four rushing touchdowns, all eclipsing 30-yards, and a successful point after attempt. He said that running hard and earning those scores was his own personal highlight. “It’s a pleasure (being named MVP). I like it; I deserved it,” he added.
Fellow running back Julius Joseph-Brown (#0 Central) was one score shy of Pendley’s record. He had three touchdowns himself, one of which was a 45-yard run, and a successful point after attempt. “It is great, man. It feels good,” he said about his MVP selection. “It was a good game. Everyone played hard, my teammates, even the opponents.”
Lawrence Hooper, the head coach of Team Central, had a little bit of an idea of what he could expect from Pendley and Joseph-Brown. “Omarion was exactly what we thought he would be. He literally scored every time he touched the ball,” he said. “Julius played really well (also).”
Lineman Kaden Charles (#99 Central) was manning the fort, keeping Team Halton-Peel off the scoreboard. He had some tackles for losses in the game. “Well, I just played the gap, rushed through the gap. When I saw the running back, I tackled him,” he said. “My personal highlight was when I laid out the running back.”
Marcus Obal, the head coach of Team Halton-Peel, felt that the MVP selections were “deserving. From what I saw, the three that they picked deserved to get those awards.”
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
