CFCFPC Hamilton (RECAP): Cleveland triumphs on day two of the showcase to go home with a perfect record

Day two of the CFCFPC showcase once again opened with the crew from Cleveland taking on Minor Halton-Peel, and despite a determined effort, it was Cleveland who used their size and speed to break a series of long plays that resulted in a 51-0 victory.

Jermaine Foster, who was named MVP a day earlier for his amazing knack of reversing field and making defenders miss, picked up where he left off with a 68 yard touchdown run to open the scoring for Cleveland. He would lose out on Overall MVP honours to his teammate Hosea Steele, however, who finished the quarter with a touchdown pass from Brian Sullivan which would be the first of two majors for him on the day.

Foster wouldnā€™t give up the award without a fight though as the two took turns crossing the goal line, with another 69 yard touchdown run providing a sizeable gap on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter. Before they could break for halftime, Steele answered his teammateā€™s challenge with a 57 yard touchdown reception from Sullivan once again, who was able to complete two more passes throughout the game for 45 yards to Tristian Sizemore which earned him Offensive MVP honours.

Cleveland continued to roll in the second half with another long score by Foster, and touchdown runs by Kyler Wiggins, Kai White, and Arvelle Reese would eventually add up to a 51-0 victory and two dominant wins during their time north of the border. Many could have been chosen for Defensive MVP, but in the end it wasĀ Braylon WestĀ who was rewarded for his excellent play at linebacker.

Halton-Peel did have some standout performers who put their best foot forward despite the lopsided result, including Nicholas Rasile who completed five of his eights passes, and Lewc Rayner who caught four of those attempts for 22 yards. Reese Martin was the other receiver who marked his name on the score sheet, while Alistair McNair had another gritty performance after having a big game the day before to open the showcase.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
