CFC60 REC Meiga makes it official on NCAA Early Signing Day

Another Canadian recruiting journey comes to an end with CFC60 Malick Meiga out of Vieux Montreal officially signing with Penn State on NCAA Early Signing Day.

It turned out to be a wild race for the 6’4″, 190lbs prospect receiving big time offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, TCU, Baylor, West Virginia and Syracuse. Instead he’ll be heading to Penn State where he’ll join CFC100 top ranked Theo Johnson, who could form a deadly duo in Happy Valley with Meiga over the next four years. They’ll also be joining CFC100s Jonathan Sutherland, Daniel Joseph, and Jesse Luketa, making Penn State a program every Canadian will want to keep an eye on every Saturday afternoon.

Meiga spent his high school football career at Saint-Stanislas where he caught 18 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns as a senior. He continued to shine in his first year of CEGEP, leading the Spartiates with 434 yards and six touchdowns, followed up with a province high 840 yards and six majors this past season. The impressive numbers led to high praise from CFC Lead Analyst, Clint Uttley,

“Meiga is a tall, long athlete who looks like a junior version of Calvin Johnson. Because of his skill set and his natural play making ability. Meiga will no doubt take a year or two to establish himself at the Cégep level and get used to the speed of the game as well as creating a report with his new quarterback, but there is no debating his ability or his potential. He is your prototypical blue chip receiver prospect. Hopefully, he has a solid coach at this level where he really challenges Meiga to become a great player and reach his potential.”
