After mostly silence on the trail from Labrosse, the quick commit comes as a bit of a surprise. Talent was never the question, because the 6’2″, 180lbs defensive back has long been one of the top rated CFC60 prospects, but moreso because he ended up committing on the spot after earning his first NCAA offer with an impressive camp day. It’s going to be disappointing for the programs who missed out, but Syracuse has laid the groundwork in Quebec signing multiple francophone prospects, and managed to pull off another coup.

Labrosse is coming off an all-star campaign with the Cheetahs totaling 58 tackles, 2 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 9 pass breakups and 2 sacks from his safety position. As a member of the Class of 2020, he’ll be returning for one more season before eventually joining the Orange. Once he arrives, he’ll have plenty of company with fellow CFC60s Geof Cantin-Arku and Matthew Bergeron committing this past cycle, while CFC100s Tyrell Richards and Patrick Davis will be entering their final stages with the program.

There could always be others from the Class of 2020 who decide to join Labrosse down the road with Syracuse offering CFC100s Theodore Johnson, Akheem Mesidor, Kenny Mestidor, Geri Theodore, Carter Hooper and CFC60 Malick Meiga. They’ve also got their eye on the future with Class of 2021 offers outstanding for CFC100s Christian Veilleux, Damien Alford, Joshua Baka and Aaron Armitage.

Labrosse is the 11th Canadian from the Class of 2020 to announce his NCAA commitment, and second heading to the ACC alongside CFC100 Ajou Ajou, who also announced his intentions to play at Clemson over the weekend.
