CFC50 Weekend Watch (13): OFSAA looms, B.C in semis, AB to crown their champion this weekend

Around the country, there are some great matchups happening between CFC50 high school teams. Here is a look at what you can expect this weekend.

With playoffs coming down to the wire, Alberta will crown their provincial champion this weekend as we see CFC50 No. 2 Harry Ainlay take on CFC50 No. 5 St. Francis in North versus South. This has always been a big rivalry and St. Francis has come out the victor more often then not. However, the tides have turned these past two years as Ainlay has emerged the powerhouse and defending champions. The way Ainlay has been playing all season long, the Browns are going to have a tough go.

One of the semifinal games in B.C this weekend will be a rematch of last year’s ‘controversial’ provincial final between CFC50 No. 16 Terry Fox and CFC50 No. 26 New Westminster. This game is going to be epic! We think you an already feel the energy regarding this game as both teams are anxious to settle a score – one to show they are the rightful champion and the other to prove they won fair and square. You can watch the tape and decide on your own. That being said, it’s going to be a good one.

CFC50 No. 1 St. Thomas played CFC50 No. 19 Cardinal Newman where they have come out the victor, 20-9. They advance to the OFSSA Bowl festival.
