CFC50 game PREVIEW (AB): Tier I Battle of the South; L.C.I Rams vs. Raymond Comets

Tier I Battle of the South

Raymond Comets vs. Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (L.C.I)

Friday, Sept. 29 @ 7:30pm., University of Lethbridge Community Stadium (Lethbridge)

The match-up between the L.C.I Rams and the Raymond Comets will reminisce a bad memory for the Rams since they lost their season to the Comets in the regional final 21-7.

Although a sour way of ending their trek to Provincials, the Rams have turned it around and have done nothing but win every single game they have encountered during pre-season.

Their tenacious attitude to dominate has been evident with a very divided score between rival teams, Centennial Coyotes (46-0) and the Bishop O’Bryne Bobcats (42-10).

Earning a 14th spot of the CFC50 list this week, the Rams are a noticeably big threat in the South Alberta League.

Head Coach Darren Majeran is excited for this weeks encounter with the Comets.

“We really try and ramp the intensity level up as we know this game will be a battle.”

Last week, the Comets superior offense was noted in their blowout win against the Churchill Bulldogs (57-0).

The Lethbridge team will have to utilize their Team Alberta U-17 defensive players Callum Hyland (DB) and Blake Gibb (DL) to stop the Comets in their tracks.

“Raymond has a very good quarterback and some excellent receivers that we will need to keep in check if we want to be successful.”

The “Battle of the South” matchup will prove whether the Lethbridge team will continue ramming down their competition or if the Comets can get back into this league and return to the finals.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
