#CFC100 Rourke heading for JUCO (VIDEO)

Unfazed by the disappointment of not landing on an NCAA Division 1 team, #CFC100 Nathan Rourke is pressing ahead with the next stage of his gridirion career.

Determined to realize his ultimate gridiron dream of playing in the NCAA, the the 6ā€™2, 205 pound pivot from Burlington, Ontario has announced via Twitter that he will be suiting up for Kansas JUCO team, Fort Scott Hounds:

Just over a month ago, a media report surfaced where Rourke indicated that if he didn’t receive an offer, he would go the JUCO route.

While he did receive his first NCAA Division 1 offer from Football Championship Subdivision team, Alabama A & M Bulldogs before the Christmas break, his recruitment process south of the border suddenly became quiet ā€“ something that he hadnā€™t hoped for or expected when he moved to the state.

Multiple NCAA schools have shown interest in Rourke including Chattanooga, East Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Southern Mississippi, Troy and UCLA. Despite all the interest, nothing further materialized on NCAA National Signing Day.

Last month, Rourke won the AISA Back of the Year Award that was handed out at the Alabama Sports Writers Association Mr. Football Banquet.

Rourke enjoyed a successful 2015 campaign that saw him lead the Alabamaā€™s Edgewood Wildcats to their sixth straight AISA ā€˜AAā€™ Championship and extend a winning streak of 71 games which is a state record.

The Oakville pivot amassed 3,768 passing yards, 59 passing touchdowns and three interceptions this past fall with the Wildcats. His completion rate was 75 percent and he rushed for 385 yards as well as 12 touchdowns.

With this win, theĀ #CFC100Ā prospect is the second consecutive Wildcats player to receive the honour.

Previous to the Wildcats, Rourke helped Holy Trinity Titans of the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association to an OFSAA Bowl victory in 2014. He also suited up for the Burlington Stampeders of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

Rourke is also a previous participant of theĀ Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC).

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
